Watch Nick Kyrgios Break Down About The Australian Bushfires

...

Tennis star Nick Kyrgios has made it known about how passionate he is regarding the Australian bushfires that are currently devastating the nation, and now he's broken down during an interview about them straight after a match.

After winning Australia's open match of the ATP Cup against Germany, Kyrgios participated a post-match interview where he was clearly very emotional about the state of the nation right now.

"I don’t really care about the praise too much. We’ve got the ability and the platform to do something," he said.

"My home town is Canberra and we’ve got the most toxic air in the world at the moment, that’s pretty sad. It’s tough. Sorry."

In case you weren't aware, on January 2 the smoke that covered Canberra was so dense that it rendered the city having the worst air quality in the world. Yep, that's right - in the world.

Earlier this week, Kyrgios said that he'd donate $200 for every ace that he hits across every event he plays this summer. He's clearly in good form, as from just one match he hit 20 aces which means he is donating $4,000.

"It’s all going to all the families, firefighters, animals, everyone who is losing homes, losing families … it’s a real thing. It’s bigger than tennis," he said.

“It’s tough to go out there and concentrate on tennis, to be honest," he continued. "Every ace I was hitting that’s all I was thinking about. Every time I stepped up to the line that’s all I was thinking about.”
