Frank Ocean's Dad Is Suing Him for $14 Million Because What Is Family For?
Ooooo boy, this is messy.
Actual angel Frank Ocean is being sued by his father for $14.5 million - you read that right - for defamation. In a Tumblr post made last year by Ocean, following the Orlando shooting, Ocean recounts a time where his father made an awful slur against a transgender waitress. Ocean's father, Calvin Cooksey, claims Ocean is full of sh*t and is now slapping him with a colossal lawsuit. But it doesn't stop there.
Cooksey also goes on, in his official complaint, to say that Ocean is a "fraud" and only made the post to promote his then-upcoming album Blonde. He also says that Ocean only cares about the millions of bucks he was going to make through his deal with Apple Music. Yikes.
BUT WE'RE NOT DONE YET. Cooksey then went on to give Tyler, The Creator a good dragging. He refers to him as a "homophobic bigot" and a "devil worshipper" before noting that Tyler was left out of the anti-homophoic Tumblr post.
FINALLY, Cooksey goes in for Frank's mother, Katonya Breaux, who called out singer Kim Burrell, a collaborator of Ocean's, for her homophobic comments but doing the same for Tyler.
This whole thing is just one big clusterf*ck and, apparently, Ocean and Cooksey have been sent to mediation to reach an out-of-court settlement. Just writing this gave us a headache, so we can't imagine what they're going through.
If for nothing else, we're probably going to get a DOPE album #3 after this.
