REPORTS: Miley Cyrus & Cody Simpson Have Called It Quits
Miley Cyrus and Cody Simpson have broken up, reports TMZ. Mates of theirs revealed to TMZ that the took place over the last few weeks, but didn’t say what caused it.
The news comes the same day Miley is set to release new single "Midnight Sky". Make of that what you will.
Miley, 27, and Cody, 23, got together in October 2019, not long after Miley announced her divorce with Liam Hemsworth and her subsequent fling with Brody Jenner's ex, Kaitlynn Carter.
In an interview with GQ in 2015, before the couple had gotten together, Cody had called Miley one of his “best friends”. “Miley is one of my best friends and she helps with some of that transitional stuff – trying to escape your childhood,” he said. “She’s super open-minded and I’m working on becoming more like that.”
Recently, a mate of Miley's spilled deets on their relationship to Entertainment Tonight, saying it was “unexpected and became meaningful very quickly, and she couldn't be happier.” "They are both very passionate about their music and it’s something that has bonded them,” they added.
The source also opened up about Miley’s new sober lifestyle, which she embraced after vocal chord surgery in November 2019, saying her newfound sobriety had made her “very present” in her relationship with Cody.
“Her decision to be sober has changed the way she thinks about life. She would describe herself as a believer in this new way of life and is looking to make sobriety a long-term lifestyle,” the source said.
Time will tell if this breakup is for good, or just a blip for these too. Whatever happens, we'll keep you Miley fans well across it.
